Scott has been a local in the Geelong region for more than 30 years. He first started playing golf at the age of 12 at the Torquay Golf Club.
As an amateur, Scott represented both junior and senior GDGA representative teams and had numerous successful amateur tournaments. After finishing VCE, Scott left Geelong heading north for Cairns to work in the Golf industry at Paradise Palms Golf Course. A short time later, having been inspired by the Club Professional, Scott realised his real passion was to become a Teaching Professional. John Van Der Veen offered Scott the opportunity to commence his Golf Traineeship at Torquay Golf Club in 1997.
Over the next 3 years Scott was introduced to Coaching golfers of all skill levels. Scott was so passionate about Teaching Golf, his future was clear. On completion of his Professional Golf Traineeship, Scott was awarded a ‘Diploma in Professional Golf’ from the PGA Academy of Golf.
Immediately, Scott was successful with his application for a Golf Coaching position at Orchid Country Club in Singapore, chosen over several outstanding candidates. After 10 months in Singapore, Scott was heading for home having accepted a position as the Head Professional at 13th Beach Golf Links.
Scott arrived in Australia for the opening of 13th Beach Golf Links in December 2001. Scott was about to commence his Golf Coaching business at a brand new golf club without a client on his books, a card table as a desk and a home made black box to shelter his computer from the elements. The Golf Academy and Driving Range at 13th Beach has now grown to service more than one thousand Golf Club Members and it’s many visitors.
Scott is a ‘Titleist Staff Professional’ and has been a PGA Professional since the year 2001. With his ever increasing reputation and profile as a Golf Coach, this led him to feature as a regular PGA Guest Editor for the magazine publication ‘Golf Australia’ between 2009 – 2013.
Anthony was introduced to the game of golf by his father at Portarlington Golf Club at the age of 10. He quickly became hooked on the sport and would often play cricket or football on a Saturday morning and then spend the rest of the day at Portarlington Golf Club.
During his amateur golfing years Anthony achieved many accolades, including some of the following: Part of the Geelong and District Senior teams from 1998 until 2000, Part of the 2000 Victorian State squad, Club champion at Portarlington Golf Club from 1995 until 2000, Club champion at Queenscliff Golf Club 1999 and 2000, Course record holder at Northern Golf Club (64), Portarlington Golf Club (66), Queenscliff Golf Club (66), Numerous Club open titles and achieved a +4 handicap in the year 2000.
In 2001 Anthony began his 3 year Professional Golf Association Traineeship under Garry Middleton at Queenscliff Golf Club and 3 years later became an accredited PGA member. For the first few months of 2004 Anthony tried his luck on the Australian Golf Circuit and tasted victory in the Trafalgar Pro Am. However, he quickly found that his passions were elsewhere and started mixing up his routines by becoming interested in helping the average golfer become a better player and helping them achieve goals they thought were not achievable.
In 2007, Anthony became employed by The House of Golf Geelong, where he mixed his passion of golf with teaching, club fitting and retail.
In July 2010, The House of Golf Geelong and Anthony took over the Pro Shop at Clifton Springs Golf Club where he mixed teaching with Golf Operations.
In August 2018, Anthony moved over to 13th Beach Golf Academy and has worked hard to build up the Junior Program. In 3 and a half years, the program has grown from 8 initial participants to over 70 regular term participants and is now one of the biggest junior programs in the state.
Anthony is also kept busy with regular private lessons and specialised adult clinics.
Anthony is a Level 2 Certified Capto Putting Coach. Capto’s software is the hottest item in golf at the moment and is growing rapidly worldwide. Phil Kenyon, arguably the worlds best putting coach, uses the software on most of his students, including players like Justin Rose, Rory McIroy, Franceso Molinari and numerous others.
Anthony is always endeavouring to learn more about the game of golf in general and is enrolled in the Phil Kenton Putting Academy and George Gankas Academy ( top 10 coach in America) to sharpen his skills and uses many training devices to assist with learning.
